Healthy Singing for All Ages and Styles
Andrea values a healthy, embodied, and natural approach to all aspects of life. As a teacher, she aims to cultivate each student’s individual wishes and strengths, nurturing singers of all ages and levels on their vocal and musical journeys.
A native of Atlanta, Andrea began teaching and singing as an undergraduate at Oberlin. She opened her private voice studio in 2003, after completing her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Voice Performance at Yale and CUNY. In addition to her background in classical music, Dr. Saposnik brings extensive studies in popular styles such as Broadway and pop to her work with students.
As a professional mezzo-soprano, Andrea has performed in musicals, operas, oratorios, recitals, and recordings in the U.S. and Europe. She has a working knowledge of French, German, and Italian; she is an accomplished pianist; and she also teaches music theory, sight-singing, and solfege.
Dr. Saposnik became a certified yoga instructor in 2022; she applies this knowledge in her vocal studio, using stretching, posture, relaxation, and breathing techniques to help each student realize their fullest potential.
Andrea is an avid hiker and a dedicated advocate for animals. She also loves baking, reading, and walking with her rescue dog, Romeo.
Teaching Philosophy
Since 2003, the Andrea Saposnik Voice Studio has been educating students of all ages and levels of experience.
In our studio, we focus on vocal health for all styles of singing, including classical, contemporary commercial music, and musical theater. We also teach the foundations of musicianship, including sight-singing and music theory, as well as song interpretation, acting, and performance. We make learning music fun, and we encourage enjoyment at all levels of singing, from the novice to the professional. Our students range in age from 5 to 92, and we cultivate each student’s unique voice and interests, inspiring them to realize their fullest potential.
Students have numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, including recitals, studio classes, masterclasses, community service performances, and Broadway nights.
